My squad and I spent a few weeks in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa. Ministry in Jeffrey’s Bay was chaotic. Half our time there was spent doing work around the Global Leadership Academy campus and the other half of the time was spent “Asking the Lord” otherwise know as ATL.
What’s ATL? Let me explain!
ATL is when we don’t have a set ministry for that day, so we are asked to pray over the community to see what the Lord wants us to do. Literally, anything can be ministry if your heart is in the right place!
That being said, ministry in South Africa was all over the place. I’m not going to try and explain all the different ways we served Jeffrey’s Bay… instead, I’m going to share some pictures of my team and I doing ministry!
My team and I sanded and repainted the desks at Global Leadership Academy’s school.
We tended to a garden and leveled the land on Global Leadership Academy’s campus.
Team Spice spent the afternoon with a group that helps the youth of Jeffrey’s Bay get better at English. We played soccer with the boys and the girls taught us a TikTok dance.
A handful of us learned how to surf and talked to our instructors about the Lord. Check out this photo of me catching a wave!
My team and I went to the driving range with some Jeffrey’s Bay locals!
Caroline, Shelby, and I taught some new friends how to play “Go Fish” while we were waiting for Mass.
Savannah and I spent a day editing photos and videos for our team and friends back home.
Team Spice gathered, cleaned, and painted rocks to brighten up Jeffrey’s Bay. We wrote inspiring messages on them and placed them around the community!
I hope these photos gave you all a better understanding of ”Ask the Lord” looks like and that you have a glimpse of what life was like in Jeffrey’s Bay.

Love it!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Love the sunshine and color in the photos, but most of all, God’s Love radiating from your smile.
Keep sharing HIS LOVE in all you do. ??
I just live following your adventures. I remember ATL well when doing mission work. The Lord always shows us a way! I continue to keep you in prayer!!
“Literally, anything can be ministry if your heart is in the right place!”
SO TRUE!! Thank you for demonstrating that so well, and telling the story of it all! 🙂
It’s lovely to look back at the variety of things you and your team did that will make a lasting impact in the area!
